E-Mail

E-mail is a method of sending messages, voice, video and graphics over digital communication link, such as the Internet, anywhere in the world at cost-effective rates. 

Technically, e-mail is a type of client / server application that provides a routed, stored message service between any two e-mail accounts. Because all modern computers can be connected to the Internet, users can send e-mail over the Internet to any location that has telephone or

wireless digital service.

E-Mail

The backbone of an electronic mail system is a communications network that connects remote terminals to a central system or a LAN Local Area Network that interconnects personal computers. Users can send mail to a single recipient or broadcast it to any number of selected users on the system.

There are two broad procedures available for e-mail. 

• Subscribe to e-mail service, such as Hotmail,Rediffmail, etc. 
• Install your own e-mail server on the Internet. 

The first option is not advisable for business setups due to the following reasons: 

• E-mail belonging to your business may be carrying someone else's advertisement. 
• Your name might be used by someone else. It means that your mail is not safe. 

However, the following are some advantages of using this method:

• Administering your own e-mail setup is avoided. 
• When the number of messages are small, an exclusive setup for e-mail is not cost-effective.
• Your e-mail address does not identify you. So it may not be easy for the sender to locate you thus saving you from receiving junk or useless mail called spams.
